School’s out for summer! With many children returning to in person school and those still participating in virtual learning at home, this is a great time to take the opportunity to get outside, limit screen time, and visit some of your favorite spots that might be reopening. Making a Summer Bucket list of fun activities for the kids and entire family to do together will help stave off boredom and keep things exciting. Here are a few ideas to keep those bodies moving and continue learning during those summer months.

Hiking: Always hike at the same place? Try switching things up and go for a hike along the coast with an ocean view or head to the Redwoods for a cooler climate. There are many apps that allow you to filter location, distance, difficulty level, if it is a heavily trafficked area, and if your furry friends are welcomed. And check out our ideas for a yoga nature walk!

Canoeing/ Kayaking: Put on a life vest and grab a paddle. This will definitely challenge your upper body and core muscles.

Biking riding: Learn to ride a bike or dust off that bike that has been sitting unused for the last year. Bike riding is a great full body exercise that takes a lot of balance and coordination. Check out this post for ideas on helping your little one learn to ride!

Balloon games: Blow up a balloon and see how many times you can hit or kick it before it falls to the floor. Have a partner? Count how many times you can pass it back and forth. Here is one game you can try!

Squirt guns: This activity requires so much multitasking plus it is a fun way to cool down on a hot day. Here are some other ideas for water squirt toys.

Water balloon toss: Although these take a while to make, tossing water balloons is a great way to work on catching and throwing. It is always fun to see the expression on people’s faces when they pop! And here are some more ideas!

Summer Olympics: Get ready to watch the Olympics and be inspired to try a new sport! Check out this post with some fun ideas!

Aquariums and Museums: There are lots of opportunities for different sensory experiences. Plus, you’ll probably learn something new and witness something amazing that you can tell your friends about!
